Video call with Li Keqiang, Prime Minister of China

This morning, Prime Minister De Croo had a videoconference with his Chinese colleague Li Keqiang, on the occasion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Belgium and China.

During the conversation, a number of subjects of mutual interest were discussed, including the impact of COVID-19, the importance of intellectual property rights and a level playing field for businesses. China and Belgium are important trading partners with significant trade flows in both directions.

Prime Minister De Croo also stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue on issues such as the human rights situation. The Prime Minister reiterated the importance that Belgium attaches to multilateral cooperation and a rules-based international order.
