Prime Minister receives King of Jordan
This afternoon, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo received Jordan's King Abdullah II. During the bilateral meeting, Belgium-Jordan relations, the Belgian EU presidency and the Middle East conflict were discussed.
Alongside Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib, Crown Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdallah and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadin also took part in the meeting. The two leaders talked about initiatives to stop the conflict in the Middle East. Afterwards, the Prime Minister expressed his concern over developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Alexander De Croo: "The attacks on innocent civilians in a Gaza refugee camp are disproportionate and must stop. Hamas must release the Israeli hostages as soon as possible. But cutting off 2 million people from water, food and electricity is prohibited under international law. This is also why our country is calling for a humanitarian pause, which must ensure that the people of Gaza have access to humanitarian aid and the spiral of violence stops."
