Prime minister received Belgian Jewish community
Prime Minister Alexander De Croo met representatives of Belgium's Jewish community this morning following the renewed violence in the Middle East.
Together with the interior and justice ministers and the secretary of state for equal opportunities, the concerns of the Jewish community were heard. The Prime Minister reiterated his message of sympathy to the victims of violence and terror in Israel.
Alexander De Croo: "In the name of our country, I want to express our support to all the people of Israel. This kind of blind and cowardly terror makes any prospect of peace and security in the entire region impossible. Violence can never be a solution for bringing peace between Israelis and Palestinians."
The security of strategic Jewish institutions was also discussed and is reviewed on the basis of a security services analysis. "The situation is closely monitored by Ocad. Our services are doing everything to ensure the security of all citizens, including Jewish residents, on our territory. There is no place for anti-Semitism and intolerance here. The Jewish community is a cornerstone of Belgian society."
